About Fusion Flours - Tara's Story

Tara founded Fusion Flours in June of 2010, after a two decades-long battle with undiagnosed Celiac disease. In her early 20’s, Tara became ill with symptoms that baffled doctors- severe fatigue, joint pain, bone pain, muscle pain and cramping, gastric bloating and neurologic disturbances.
Years later, Tara was diagnosed with “Undifferentiated” Autonomic Neuropathy, Peripheral Neuropathy, an unspecified autoimmune disorder, and Gastroparesis (digestive paralysis) at the Cleveland Clinic. The Neurologist explained that there was no cure and that unfortunately, they had no answers for her as to why all of this was happening.
Tara became physically worse as the years went by until she was bed-ridden. It was only after a visit with a local chiropractor, Dr. Bud Miller at A Quality Life Center, whom suggested that Tara start a food diary that brought the possibility of a food allergy to light . After going gluten-free for 4 days, the results were already profound. Within a month her symptoms had become less intense.
As soon as she was ready, rehabilitation was needed after being in bed for so very long. Going into the kitchen to bake a few minutes a day was all that she could do at first, but baking slowly got her out of bed and helped her to regain her strength and stamina. Let's face it, there just aren't many good options out there for gluten-free foods, so learning to bake gluten-free was nessicary for Tara.
She began researching the best gluten-free flours and starches from all over the world, and brought them into her kitchen to experiment. After many months of mixing and baking and hundreds of horrible flops, she had created the perfect combination of flours to bake a wide variety of goods, from white bread, to cookies, to pizza crust. Friends and family agreed these foods were delicious, warm, and enjoyable to gluten-free and non-gluten free people alike. Everyone should be able to share the foods they enjoy with the people they love. This is the philosophy behind Fusion Flours.

Tara decided to market her flour mixes in the spring of 2010, when Fusion Flours LLC was established.
